where。||Poetic Afternoon,Hangzhou 詩意. 杭州||

lazy_hangzhou03

Hangzhou, one of the city that I grown up with. The thrill view I haven't seen for months is still stunning. People who lives here are relaxed and calmed. There are lots of new concept stores that was inspired by the poetic city.  Tea rooms are everywhere, coffee are not as fancy as it should be here. Love the trees are also everywhere in the city, no wonder its one of the most suitable city for living in China. Tea and Poem are best mates in Hangzhou since centuries ago. Running away from the concrete jungle city of Shanghai, within an hour ride to Hangzhou with high speed rail, it's definitely worth the time of the day.

<< Desiderata >> by Max Ehrmann seems like the perfect poem for the time, for better mind, better soul and your original goal of life.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.

lazy_hangzhou06
無論自己的事業有多卑微,維持對它的興趣;
但是,不要因此而看不見人間美德;

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

lazy_hangzhou04

但也不要把愛視爲虛僞;

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

lazy_hangzhou01

你是宇宙的孩子,身份不次于樹木和星星;

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

lazy_hangzhou05

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

This cafe is in an old lovely building, from ground floor to roof top, each floor has its special function. You can have a meeting or friends/family reunion at the ground floor with the big table. Then you also can have a quite time of your own on the 2nd floor. 3rd floor is for events, they hold quite a lot interesting events. That afternoon with Mr. Ben was fulfilled and full of fun. where。

Paris, a city that is good at telling stories. From romantic waltz under the Eiffel Tower, to bump into the love of your life in Shakespeare & Company, how many of us visit this city just because of its love stories and those slim elegant women. On the street, traditional department store and retail shops are not enough to satisfy modern customers' need and want for better lifestyle. Especially in Europe, you have to be a better story-teller than a ordinary shop assistant.  So I guess now in Paris, the saying is become like this: ' “When I’m not at the coffee house, I’m on the way to the Concept Store.”

merci01

merci2

There are two popular Concept Stores now in Paris, Trendy Colette and Tasteful Merci. Opened in 2009, by Bonpoint's founder Mr& Mrs Cohen. Merci, the buyer Concept Store is well known for its Fashion x Charity. It also why the shop called Merci (meaning Thank you in French) because things you buy in the shop, they donate part of the income to the charity, that makes every customer an anonymous hero and lower our guilt while we shop ( hahaha, isn't it fantastic! )

merci03 merci16merci04

It's definitely not the charity part attract us, the biggest charm is from the atmosphere it create in the shop. Unlike other stores, it makes the whole space like an art exhibition by changing installation every month and cooperated with well known artist and designers. The concept will be all over the store with display and the things they sell. So that's guarantee that every time you visit, there must be something new and refreshing. (Also for their iconic RED CAR that park in the front of the shop. Last time we went, there is a cross over with a brand called SWILDENS, so the car was decorate with lots of darts, super cute! )

merci05 merci09merci06 merci07 merci08

With three floors shopping space, from housewear, home deco to fashion designer brands, covered with tasteful and playful stuffs. If you feeling tired while you shop, there is a library-like cafe on the ground floor and a sofa area on the 1st floor. My favorite spot is the lower ground floor that is full with fun little things and quality home products, all of them makes you want to touch, feel and play. You can definitely hear laughter in this floor, just like the family I saw, who were beside a display desk and brainstorming what can the object do. That made the whole space so homy and cosy.

The day we went was Saturday afternoon, just before it closed, but the shop is still packed with people. Quite a lot of them are families, some of them are really chic and stylish. Just stand or sit in a corner and watch those people passing by is quite enjoyable in Merci. Next time I am definitely going to spend whole afternoon there,  drinking tea in the cool kids cafe and collecting parisian taste.

merci19

If any of you is interesting heading there, do check their website or Facebook for a heads up what's going on in the store. Now in April, they are having gardner David Jeannerot's fancy little garden called “ LES MAUVAISES GRAINES ENVAHISSENT MERCI”. (but where is the iconic lille RED? )

pieces。|| Spring Break, Shanghai。

Couple days earlier, people are talking about this "International Happiness Day" all over Weibo and Wechat. They shared tips and experiences, and there is one special tips that really works for me---"Plan your next trip". Some my regular reader would figure out why this one in particular, cos I love wondering, walking in a city. (That's also a reason that my lifestyle/fashion blog is turning into more lifestyle less fashion blog now) Trips are not meant to be overseas, it could be locally. Spend a weekend or an hour after work, start exploring deeply in to the city you live in can be pretty fun too. Especially in Spring, while the sun is mostly out and warm, and the flowers are blooming, it's the perfect season to plan the little trip. ( please excuse my first photo, it seems the spring is still unawake cos the weather is still pretty cold this year.)

spring_break_shanghai08

There are quite a lot of site and magazines show you how to explore Shanghai, so I draw a little map, which is based on French Concession (my favorite area of Shanghai) and ready for an afternoon Spring wondering trip. I walk alone WuLuMuQi Mid Rd, and found some fascinated shops, and alone the way, there are lots of old buildings that contained a bit of old Western style but mixed with new modern Eastern. Love this mixture of cultures/ new and old, which create a new life style, the only kind that belong to this city. A lovely leftover Happiness that's given by the great history.

Every years Tomb Sweeping Day often end up with lovely spring break trip in Taiwan. My family loves blooms, so Spring is the perfect season for us to head out enjoy the nature. My lifestyle Blogger cousin, Mintcat, recommend us a fantastic spot in YangMing Mountain, near a temple there are lots of SAKURA trees that make the whole area romantically pink and with the traditional temple as the background, I can feel the zen. We went on a weekday, but that place was still packed with people. Blooms could bring people together to inspire the spirits. I believe so. The day we went, there is a host who opened his gate to allow people to enjoy and share the view of his garden. I can feel his passion and kindness thought those beautiful WISTERIA on the roof which are 16 and 18 years old. I also can feel he is very proud of those plants by the smile on his face while he answers those visitor's questions about his lovely heavenly garden.
